Rodney Lyn Nelson age 55, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, May 21, 2025 at St. Michaels Hospital. He was born June 16, 1969 in Bowie, Texas to George “Pete Nelson, Jr. and Darline Walker. Rodney was loved by many; he never met a stranger. He had a genuine heart, always willing to help others in any way that he could. He will greatly be missed
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zion Carroll.
He is survived by his daughter, Nya Nelson Carroll (Dameion) – Atlanta, TX; Step-sons, MarcQuae Sigler (Raven) – Grand Prairie, TX, and Minister Julius Neal (Shay) – Crowley, TX; Siblings, Rev. Christopher Collins, Sr. (Labricha) – Atlanta, TX, Kelvin Walker (Yalonda) – McKinney, TX, Sanetta Gulley – Texarkana, AR, and George Howard – Ashdown, AR; three grandchildren, Elijah Carroll, Jayden Carroll, and Laylah Carroll; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family.
Services will be held, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Kingdom Faith Ministries, Queen City, Texas with Rev. Dr. Christopher Collins, officiating.
Viewing will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.
Interment: Ware Memorial Cemetery, Domino, Texas
Rest In peace my Friend. I will always remember Rodney’s kindness and always willing to help me do yard work. I will truly miss him.
