Dessie George Simmons, 62, of Queen City, Texas, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at his home. Mrs. Simmons was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Domino, Texas. She was a production worker with Holly Burton Industrial Plant. Dessie was preceded in death by her son Kenny Hunt and sister, Cynthia Jefferson.
Survivors include her husband, Mathew Simmons of Domino; two daughters, Shelia (Larry) Mayfield and Amy Hunt Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; her mother, Ammie Jefferson of Domino; three sisters, Onita (Gerald Boyce) Tyson of Queen City, Deborah (Gilbert) Williams of Domino and Felecia (Lonnie) Waller of Texarkana, Texas; two brothers, Ray Charles (Willa) Jefferson and James of Domino; six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Serviecs will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Golden Gate Baptist Church, Domino, with the Rev. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
