J.C. Dickerson, affectionately known as “Bird,” 63, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away on January 21, 2026, at his home.
J.C. was born on September 23, 1962, to the late Rev. J.C. Dickerson, Sr. and Arstine Dickerson. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Free Christian Zion Church. J.C. attended Atlanta High School in Atlanta, Texas, where he graduated with the Class of 1981.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doris A. Freeman, of Atlanta, Texas.
A close-casket service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Free Christian Zion Church in Douglassville, Texas, with Rev. Ann Brown officiating.
Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery, Douglassville, Texas.
J.C. leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Christi Johnson (Augusta) of Lee Summit, Missouri; his son, Jason Dickerson of Des Moines, Iowa; his granddaughters, Kynedy Davis and Mariah Dickerson; his grandsons, Isaiah, Josiah, and Elijah Dickerson; his sisters, Bernice (Joe) Anderson of Nashville, Arkansas, Wonder Rosser of Atlanta, Texas, Josie (Eddie) Banks of Bloomburg, Texas, and Stena (Gregory) Dixon of Nashville, Arkansas; his brothers, Timothy Dickerson and Roy Lee Dickerson of Atlanta, Texas, and Everett (Juanita) Dickerson, Sr. of Texarkana, Texas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
