John L. “Big Daddy” Martin, 79, of Queen City, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at a Texarkana hospital. Mr. Martin was born April 16, 1938, in Shiloh, Texas. He was a concrete layer and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Johnnie R. Martin of Domino, Texas, Will Martin of Texarkana and Fedric L. Martin of Shiloh; three daughters, Sharel Dyer of Texarkana and Dorothy Martin and Rachel Martin of Domino; one brother, C.M. Martin of Amarillo, Texas; three sisters, Mozelle H. Jackson of Atlanta, Martha Watson of Tyler, Texas, and Lue Ella Kidd of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Tabernacle, Queen City, with Bishop Marvin Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home
