James Ray Hatley, 72, of Douglassville, Texas, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mr. Hatley was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Atlanta.
Survivors include A very close friend, Dorothy Wells; three daughters, Linda (Shawn) Young of Atlanta and Carolyn Hatley and Tina Hatley of Fresno, Calif.; six sons, Tyrone (Veronica) Tatum of Texarkana, Kenneth(Betty) Hatley, Ardis Hatley and Edward Lawson of Fresno, Roy (Sametra) Wells of Carthage, Texas, and Rodney (Letizia) Wells of Atlanta; two sisters, Sandra (Harvey) King and Debra Williamson of Texarkana; four brothers, Jesse (Odessa) Hatley of Dallas and Lawrence (Pat) Hatley, Kenneth (Alice) Richardson and Dale Williamson of Texarkana; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gum Springs CME Church, Douglassville, with Superintendent Greggory Hatley officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

We loved him not only as family but as a dear friend, he was a loveable person and he will forever be in my heart, we are praying for you all and we know God will take care of you all during this time of loss.
