Beatrice L. Daniels

Beatrice Lawson Daniels, 98, of Atlanta died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in a local hospital. Ms. Daniels was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Atlanta. She was a retired teacher and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a number of relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, with Rev. Alrlister Maxie and Elder Herbert Harper officiating.  Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Rose Chism

Rose Chism, 60, of Linden passed away on November 22, 2013 at her residents.   Mrs. Chism was born August 15, 1953 in Atlanta, Texas.  She was retired from Guard Line and a member of New Light Baptist Church.

Closed Casket services will be held at 11:00 A.M., November 30, 2013 at New Light Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Castleberry officiating.   Burial will be at the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home   The body maybe viewed from 12:oo Noon until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, November 29, 2013.

Rose leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters, Shan (Dreg) Darty of Kildare, Charman Chism of Linden;  One son, Romar Chism, of Linden and Two adopted sons:  Jimmie Lee (Dakota) of Atlanta and Jr. Gardner of Tyler.  Six grandchildrens; Trey Darty of Nachogdoches, Tramone Darty, Elijah Thompson, Landen Titus, Jay Lee Phillips and Antwain Phillips, all of Linden, Texas.

LaKeshia Martin Benjamin

LaKesha Lonza Martin Benjamin, 40, of Dallas died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, in a Dallas hospital.

Ms. Benjamin was born Sept. 14, 1973, in Cass County, Texas. She was a corporate manager for Exxon Mobil.

Survivors include two sons, LaQuintos Martin of Dallas and LaJavion Martin of Queen City; her mother, May Martin Neal of Queen City; one sister, Rachel L. Neal of Dallas; three brothers, David Charles Jackson of Queen City and Christopher Dickerson-Kidd and Edgar L. Kidd Jr. of Atlanta; three aunts; five uncles; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be noon Saturday at Gum Springs CME Church, Douglassville, Texas, with the Rev. Diana Casteel officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. with visitation 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnnie Lee Gaither

 

ATLANTA, Texas—Johnnie Lee Gaither, 85, of Atlanta died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at his home. Mr. Gaither was born Aug. 3, 1928.

Survivors include three sons, Willie C. Gaither, Johnnie M. Gaither and James Gardner; one special friend, Lessie B. Dickerson; one special aunt, Sallie Hunter; seven brothers; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with James Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

CELESTA WARREN

Celesta Warren, 83, of Atlanta died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Warren was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Douglassville, Texas. He was a member of Mount Zion Church.

Survivors include one sister, Mae Florence of Dallas; one sister-in-law, Iwanna Warren; and a number of other relatives.

Dorothy Lou Smith

Dorothy Lou Smith, 67, of Atlanta, Texas passed away on August 25, 2013 at Linden Health Care.  Mrs. Smith was born March 28, 1946 in Naples Texas and was retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant.  She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, at 11:00 A.M. at  Enon First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas with  Rev. John W. Smith, Jr. officiating.   Burial will be in the Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.   The body mabe viewed from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Smith, Sr.of Atlanta;  three sons, Reggie Smith, John W. Smith, Jr., and Eddie Banks;   one brother, Eddie Rose, four granddaughters; three grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Velma Jean Walker Trotter

Velma Jean Walker Trotter, 70, of Douglassville, Texas passed away on August 4, 2013 at her residents.  Mrs. Trotter was born March 6, 1943 and was a member of Walker Chapel COGIC in Douglassville, Texas.   She also organized a volunteer group “The Willing Workers”.

Oscar Arthur Luckey Jr., 73, of Atlanta died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in a local hospital.

Mr. Luckey was born Dec. 23, 1939. He was a member of Floyd Valley Baptist Church.

Alvin Jerome Stiger

Alvin Jerome Stiger, 54 of Queen City, Texas passed away on July 15, 2013 at Rose Haven Retreat in Atlanta, Texas.  Mr. Stiger was born July 17, 1958 in Queen City Texas to Mr. Jerome and Kay Stiger.   He was a mechanic.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Baptist Church with Elder Herbert Harper officiating.  Burial will be at Ware Memorial Cemetery in Domino, Texas.  The body may be viewed from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19 at Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home, Atlanta Texas.

Survivors include:   His mother, Kay Bryant; one son, Demond Jones, one daughter, Denisha Jones; A Special Friend, Lisa Jones; three brothers, Donald, Michael, and Wilfred Stiger all of Queen City, Texas;  five sisters, Linda (Charles) McKinney, Mattie Chamblee, Beverly (Lawrence) Stephens all of Atlanta, Texas.  Hattie(Alfred) Lemke of Marietta, Texas and Maria (Donald) Miller of Queen City, Texas; and a Host of Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

W.L. Blaylock

W.L. Blaylock Sr., 90, of Atlanta died Friday, May 31, 2013, in Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Blaylock was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Douglassville, Texas. He was a retired peace officer and a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Hiram St., Atlanta, with the Rev. George Rape officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Douglassville, under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.
