Armistic L. Battle Jr., 46, of Atlanta died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, in Atlanta.

Mr. Battle was born May 1, 1968, in Atlanta. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Douglassville, Texas.

Survivors include five sons, William Battle, Armistic Battle III, Amond Jones, Terrell Florence and Ronnie Burnell; one daughter, Armistacia Battle; his mother, Janett L. Battle; two brothers, Anthony (Brandy) and Alvin Sr. (Sylinda); one sister, Kezlyn P. Buford-Levels; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Enon First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Talton officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Douglassville, under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Angie Lee Burns

Miss Angie Lee “Gie Baby” Burns of Jefferson, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.

Miss Burns was born the third child of Dodson and Ethel Lee Oliver Burns on December 8, 1944.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and four loving sisters.   Angie was a loving sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Miss Burns received her education from Judea and Smithland schools.   She graduated in 1964 from Central High School.   She furthered her education in Corpus Christie, Texas as a Seamstress.

She accepted Christ Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Judea Baptist Church.   She was a home maker and care giver for her family when her health was good.   She loved every moment of caring for her family.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Judea Baptist Church in Jefferson with Pastor E. Burns Sr.and Rev. A.C. Williams officiating.    Burial will be under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home, Atlanta, Texas.   The body maybe viewed on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Coleman Atlanta Funeral home from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m.
She leaves to cherish her memories:  6 sisters; Shirley Lang, Norma Burns, Evelyn Burns, Annetta Burns, Alice Burns Cooks, and Nancy Burns;  3 brothers; Dodson Burns, Jr. (Evelyn), Claude A. Burns, and Tommy L. Burns (Lottie); and a loving host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Orlando Ivory

Orlando Cartez Ivory, 22, died Monday, July 28, 2014, in a Midland, Texas hospital.

Mr. Ivory was born Jan. 12, 1992, in Atlanta, Texas. He was an equipment operator and a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Kelvin and Temikia Ivory; two brothers, Kelvin Horsley-Ivory and Demond Horsley-Ivory; two sisters, Tasha Johnson and Shamekia Davis; his grandparents, Mable Wilson and Gertha Straughter; his great-grandmother, Elenora Bell; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Atlanta High School Auditorium with the Rev. Chris Collins officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, August 2 at the funeral home.  Family hour 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Milton Luckey

Mr. Milton Luckey, 73 of Atlanta, Texas passed away on July 5, 2014 at Golden Villa Health Care.   Mr. Luckey was born May 20, 1941 in Bryans Mills, Texas.   He was retired and a member of Floyd Valley Baptist Church.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Floyd Valley Baptist Church, Rev. W.R. Collins, pastor and Minister Christopher Rowden officiating.  Burial will be in the Floyd Valley Cemetery under the Direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.    Public viewing is from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m.   Family Hour is from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Funeral Home.

Survivors includes:  loving wife, Rose Luckey; 2 sons, Garris Ivory of Douglassville and Rev. Christopher Rowden of Atlanta; 2 daughters, Betty Battle and Ann Fields of Atlanta; 3 brothers, Arnold Luckey of Texarkana, James H. Luckey of Atlanta, and Henry Barber of Dallas; 3 sisters, Janette Battle of Atlanta, Arnita Fields and Bertina Lofton of Douglassville; sixteen grandchildrens, twenty-one great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Mary Ehtel Harvey

Mrs. Mary Ethel Smith, 89 of Linden Texas passed way on June 16, 2014 at Linden Health Care.   Mrs. Ethel was born May 5, 1925 in Linden, Texas.   She was a retired and a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harvey was proceeded in death by her mother Ethel Smith and an aunt Mary Ann Russell.

She leaves to cherish her memory a host of relative and friends.

Service for Mrs. Harvey will be Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John W. Givens presiding.   Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.  The body maybe viewed from 12:00 noon until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 20, 2014.

Daisy Gamble

Daisy Gamble, 73, of Queen City, Texas, died Monday, June 9, 2014, in Texarkana, Texas.

Mrs. Gamble was born May 22, 1941, in Domino, Texas. She was a certified nurse and a member of Springdale COGIC. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Ray Gamble.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Gamble Sr.; two sons, Thomas Gamble Jr. and Anthony Gamble; six daughters, Jeanette Ivory Jacobs, Zeola Maxie, Linda Shephard, Bernice Gamble, Angela Harrison and Tracie Williams; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Tabernacle, Queen City, with Donnie Timmons officiating. Burial will be in Lenark Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Melie Jiles

Melie Jiles, 86, of Atlanta died Saturday, May 5, 2014, in a local hospital.

Ms. Jiles was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Douglassville, Texas. She was a member of Gum Springs CME Church.

Survivors include two sons, Connie Ray Jiles and Billy Royce Jiles; four daughters, Dorothy Henderson, Gloria Faye Evans, Delores Jackson and Mary Louise Thompson; two brothers, Virgil Hatley Jr. and Welton Hatley; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be noon Saturday at Gum Springs CME Church with Melton Hatley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs CME Church Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Donny Wayne Jones

Donny Wayne Jones, 55, of Atlanta died Thursday, March 27, 2014, in a local hospital.

Mr. Jones was born Oct. 30, 1958, in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a custodian at Atlanta ISD.

Survivors include his wife, Etherlean; six children, Bonderick and Antonious of Texarkana, Shadric of Irving, Texas, Brittany of Dallas, Jamar of Atlanta and Kadarrius of Cleburne; two brothers, Edward Jones and Larry Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Sally Madlock of Atlanta, Cathy Coleman of Mount Enterprise, Texas, and Judy Martin of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Rodessa, La., with Harold Abraham officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today with visitation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Glories Ann Finley

Glories Ann Finley, 53, of Atlanta died Thursday, March 6, 2014, in a local hospital.

Ms. Finley was born Aug. 25, 1960, in Douglassville, Texas. She was a licensed cosmotologist and a member of Free Christian Zion Church.

Survivors include her mother, Mae Bell Finley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Timmie and Lovie Finley, Alvis James Finley and Youlanda Finley; three sisters, Brinda King, Lutrease Finley and Effie Blaylock; nine aunts and uncles; 13 nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Baptist Church with Timmie Finley officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Johnnie Lee James

Johnnie Lee James, 78, of Atlanta died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, in Atlanta.

Mr. James was born April 28, 1935.
