Jessie Dowe

Jessie Mae Dowe, 83, of Linden, Texas, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, in a local nursing home.

Ms. Dowe was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Linden. She was retired from Glenn and Garret and member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-laws, Arlene and Lee Harris of Los Angeles, Gloria and Kevin Davis of Stockton, Calif., and Mary and Arthur Miller of Linden; one brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Faye Davis of Dallas; one sister, Lula Belle Jones of Inglewood, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Linden, with the Rev. Paul Todd and Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body will be viewed from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruby Lee Turner Henderson

Ruby Lee Turner Henderson, 93, of New Boston, Texas, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, in Texarkana,

Ms. Henderson was born Oct. 5, 1922, in New Boston. She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church, New Boston.

Survivors include six sons, Sam Turner, Don Noel and Lorenzo Gooden Jr. of Dallas, Robert Turner of Texarkana, Chet Turner of New Boston and Lyon Harris of Spokane, Wash.; three daughters, Gladys Turner Hasbrook of Texarkana, Ethel Robinson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Virginia Minor of Dallas; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Prosperity Baptist Church with David Hood officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carlton S. Scott

Carlton S. Scott, 47 of Bloomburg, TX passed away on February 25, 2015 at Christus St. Michaels .  Mr. Scott was born October 11, 1967 in Atlanta, Texas.   He was a mechanic and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas. Carlton is preceded in death by his father Billy Ray Scott, Sr.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas with Rev. Willie Simington, Sr. officiating.  Burial will be at the Olive Branch Cemetery under the direction of  Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.  Viewing will be from 12 noon until 5:00 on March 6, 2015.   Family hour is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Ola Mae Lawson, 88, of Atlanta died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at her home.

Ms. Lawson was born Dec. 18, 1926. She was a member of Queen City COGIC.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Mae Lawson of Atlanta; two sisters, Virginia Mitchell of Atlanta and I’ola Moore of San Francisco; six grandchildren, Samuel Lawson, Shelia Lawson and Tammy Chandler of Atlanta, Paula Frazier of Desoto, Texas, Stephanie Kelley of Texarkana and Delisha Lawson of Linden, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 20 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Elder B.C. James officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Norma Gene (Miss Dunkie) Burns

Ms. Norma Burns, 68 of Jefferson, Texas passed away at her residence on Februrary 8, 2015.   Mrs. Burns was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Jefferson. She was a homemaker and a member of Judea Baptist Church.

Willie B. Richardson, 81, of Queen City, Texas, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital.

Mr. Richardson was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Honey Grove. He was a heavy equipment worker and a member of Shady Grove Church, Honey Grove.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Enon First Baptist Church, Atlanta, with the Rev. Donnell Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Honey Grove Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Keith DeWayne Miles

Dewayne Miles, 47, of San Francisco died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, in San Francisco.

Mr. Miles was born Jan. 29, 1967. He was a member of Missionary Temple, San Francisco.

Graveside services will be noon Saturday at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home with the Rev. Yulanda Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Scotty Wingfield and Timothy Hopkins of Texarkana and Vontonio Hawkins of Dallas; one stepson, Clyde Williams of San Francisco; one daughter, Mishelle Hawkins of Texarkana; two stepdaughters, Benita Robinson and Jenetta Burkins of Texarkana; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Closed casket services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. M.F. Brewster officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Relatives will be at 1812 Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, October 10.

Angie Lee Burns

Miss Angie Lee “Gie Baby” Burns of Jefferson, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.

Miss Burns was born the third child of Dodson and Ethel Lee Oliver Burns on December 8, 1944.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and four loving sisters.   Angie was a loving sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Miss Burns received her education from Judea and Smithland schools.   She graduated in 1964 from Central High School.   She furthered her education in Corpus Christie, Texas as a Seamstress.

She accepted Christ Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Judea Baptist Church.   She was a home maker and care giver for her family when her health was good.   She loved every moment of caring for her family.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Judea Baptist Church in Jefferson with Pastor E. Burns Sr.and Rev. A.C. Williams officiating.    Burial will be under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home, Atlanta, Texas.   The body maybe viewed on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Coleman Atlanta Funeral home from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m.
She leaves to cherish her memories:  6 sisters; Shirley Lang, Norma Burns, Evelyn Burns, Annetta Burns, Alice Burns Cooks, and Nancy Burns;  3 brothers; Dodson Burns, Jr. (Evelyn), Claude A. Burns, and Tommy L. Burns (Lottie); and a loving host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Milton Luckey, 73 of Atlanta, Texas passed away on July 5, 2014 at Golden Villa Health Care.   Mr. Luckey was born May 20, 1941 in Bryans Mills, Texas.   He was retired and a member of Floyd Valley Baptist Church.
