Lawrence “Cool Cat” Booth, 74, of Queen City, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, in a local nursing home. Mr. Booth was born March 3, 1941, in Queen City. He was self-employed in construction and a member of Shiloh No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church, Atlanta.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Booth of Atlanta; four daughters, Sherri Kelley of Beaumont, Texas, Patricia Hendricks of Waldo, Ark., Shanequa Booth of Queen City and Lakesha Booth of Atlanta; three sons, James Booth of Dallas, Gary Barron of Henderson, Texas, and Anthony Booth of Atlanta; one sister, Alene Dyson of Dallas; one brother, Calvin Booth of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church, Bivins, Texas, with the Rev. Richard Davis Sr. officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Jean Harper

Mary Jean Harper, 46, of Atlanta, Texas Passed away January 5, 2015 at Christus St. Michael.   Mary was born July 22, 1969 and was a member of Hendrix Temple Church of God In Christ.

Mary Jean is survived by her daughter, Kendra Maxie, Atlanta; Mother, Willie Louise Harper of Atlanta; Three sisters, Mary Lee Johnson,  Joyce Ann Kattin of Atlanta, and Ruby Johnson of Maryland Heights, MO ; Brother, Willie Lee Harper, Jr. of Atlanta; One grandson, Javon Larry of Atlanta; host of beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Lee Harper, Sr., two brothers, John L. Harper and Roy Lee Harper, sister, Betty Louise Oliver.

Services will be held Saturday, January 16,2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Hendrix Temple Church of God in Christ with Bishop C. David Willis officiating.  Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas under the direction of Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home.

Eleacia N. Johnson, 19, of Atlanta died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in a local hospital. Ms. Johnson was born Jan. 8, 1996, in Atlanta. She was a member of Hendrix Temple COGIC. Author D. Anderson 65, of Marietta, Texas, died Saturday, November 28, 2015, in Longview, Texas.

Gearldine Epps, 81, of Atlanta died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in Texarkana, Texas.

Ms. Epps was born Aug. 4, 1934, in Shiloh, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, James R. Smith, Arthur Chandler and Andrew Epps Jr., of Atlanta, Jimmy Stiger of Oklahoma City and Jerry Chandler of Coppell, Texas; three daughters, Alice Smith of Houston, Carolyn Cook of Atlanta and Yvette Berrian of Louisiana; 36 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, with Elder B.C. James officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

V.T. Harper

V.T. Harper, 87, of Fairbanks, Alaska, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in Anchorage Alaska.

Mr. Harper was born July 5, 1928, in Atlanta. He was an equipment operator and a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Fairbanks.

Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Harper of Ontario, Canada, Herbert Harper of Bivins, Texas, and Franklin Harper of Atlanta; one godson, Eddie R. Banks of Columbus, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Kimberly Ann Blaylock

Ann Steger-Blaylock, 49, of New Boston, Texas, died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at her home.   Mrs. Blaylock was born March 28, 1966, in Atlanta.  She was a registered nurse with Arkansas Nursing Rehabilitation and a member of Gum Springs CME Church.

Survivors include her husband, Roderick A. Blaylock; her mother, Venita Steger; one sister, Antonia Dinese Walker; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Sharon Steger; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be Saturday, October 3, at 2:30 p.m. at Gum Springs CME Church with Elder Diana Casteel officiating.  Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Joe Lewis Crenshaw

Joe Lewis Crenshaw, 63, of Jefferson, Texas, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in a Longview, Texas hospital.

Dessie L. Warren, 85, of Douglassville, Texas, died Friday, July 17, 2015, in a Mount Pleasant hospital.
