Ernest A. Roberson Sr., 69, of Bloomburg, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at his home. Mr. Roberson was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Bloomburg. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bloomburg.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Sr. and Deadra Simington of Texarkana and Ernest Jr. and Mashina Roberson of Bloomburg; two sisters, Mary Roberson of Shreveport, La., and Lillie E. Young of Wake Village, Texas; two brothers, Calvin Roberson of Shreveport and Alvin Roberson of Houston; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Simington Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sam Houston Turner, 74, of Dallas died Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in Dallas.   Mr. Turner was born July3, 1942, in New Boston, Texas.   He was a high explosive operator with Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and a member of Prosperity Baptist Church.

Survivors include:  one daughter,  Vanessa Sims; nine sisters, Gladys Hasbrouck, Ethel Robinson, Virginia Minor, Dorothy Battle, Joyce Garvin, Lois Jackson, Carolyn Gooden, Felicia House and Tammy Thompson; nine brothers, Robert Turner, Lorenzo Turner, Don Noel, Chet Turner, Lynn Turner-Harris, Joe Thompson, Billy Thompson, Greg Thompson and Steve Thompson; granddaughter, Valencia Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many dear friends.

Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Prosperity Baptist Church with David Hood officiating.  Burial will be in Shady Gove Cemetery under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.   The body may be viewed noon to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

June Patterson, 53, of Wake Village, TX passed away Monday, January, 23, 2017 at her home.   Ms. Patterson was born June 16, 1963, in Bryan TX.  She was a Lab Supervisor at Cooper Tire and a member of Church on the Rock, Texarkana, TX.

Services will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Nash, TX with Dr. Rockridge Hannah officiating.   Burial will follow at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens  Cemetery under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors include:   Two sons, Jarred (Kembri) Patterson and Marcel Patterson; daughter, Octavia Johnson; Five Brothers, Jethro (Sharon) Patterson, Jr., Roderick (Pamela) Patterson, Titus Patterson, Britton (Tenisha) Patterson, and Kurstin Patterson;  Sister, Tummie Patterson;   Four grandsons, Jordan Patterson, Demazzi Patterson, Kayden Patterson, Jonas Patterson-Johnson; granddaughter, Alexandria Patterson, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew, cousins, and friends.

Thomas Earl Gamble, Sr., 80, of Queen City, Texas, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Domino, Texas.   Mr. Gamble was born in Somerville, Tennessee.  He was a saw operator and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include eight children;  Jeanette Jacobs of Texarkana, Tracy Gamble, Angela Harrison and Thomas Gamble, Jr. all of Atlanta; Zeola Denise Maxie, Linda Shephard and Bernice Gamble, all of Domino, and Anthony Gamble of South Carolina; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Odis Henry Tyson Jr., 69, of Doddridge, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mr. Tyson was born Oct. 25, 1947. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Doddridge.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Adrian and Stacy Tyson of Texarkana and Odis H. “Chuckie” Tyson III of Doddridge; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Freddie Tyson of Atlanta, Texas, and Donnie and Patsy Tyson of Bradley, Ark.; two sisters, Norma Payne and Janet Tyson of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Alberta Louise Smith, 74, of Houston died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in a Houston hospital. Ms. Smith was born Dec. 7, 1941, in New Boston.

Survivors include five sons, Cedrick Jones, Reginald Jones, Gregory Jones, Craig Jones and Tarrus Slater; four daughters, Sharon Webster, Victoria Jones, Felicia Jones and Natasha Slater; two brothers, Booker Jones Jr. and Kevin Jones; three sisters, Teresa Anderson, Etta Jones and Lois Green; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Arkadelphia Baptist Church with Lonnie Waller Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Arkadelphia Church Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral home.

James Stiger, 89, of Atlanta died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at his home. Mr. Stiger was born July 17, 1927, in Atlanta. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie B. Stiger; four sons and one daughter-in-law, James Smith and Michael and Wanda Gilliam of Atlanta and Quinton Gilliam and Kenneth Gilliam of Houston; one daughter, Alice Smith of Houston; three brothers, Richard Stiger and Roy Stiger of Shiloh, Texas, and Ronnie Stiger Sr. of Domino, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Charles E. Gray, 71, of Linden, TX passed away on July 21, 2016 in Dallas , Texas.  Mr. Gray was retired and a member of Saint John Devine Missionary Baptist Church, Kildare, Texas.

Hardy Sheppard, 95, of Atlanta died Saturday, July 9, 2016, in a Linden, Texas hospital. Mr. Sheppard was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Linden. He was a school bus driver and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry D. Sheppard of Douglassville, Texas, and Berry Sr. and Leraine Sheppard of Atlanta; one sister, Jennie Gibson of Altadena, Calif.; three grandchildren and two spouses, Anthony Nickleberry of Texarkana, Berry Jr. and Felicia Thomas Sheppard of Atlanta and Hardy and Kim Sheppard of Bivins, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. June D. Casteel, 78, of Marietta passed away July 2, 2016 at Christus St. Michaels Hospital, Texarkana, Texas.  Mrs. Casteel was born September 24, 1934.  She was a homemaker and a member of Floyd Valley Baptist Church of Marietta, Texas.

Mrs. Casteel leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Edwin (Lisa) of Fresno, CA,   Charles(Linda) of Marietta, TX, and Rickey (Carnelia) of Ovilla, TX; one sister, Alma Milliner of Dallas, TX; three brothers, Charles Neal of Dallas,TX, Calvin and Bobby Neal of Marietta, TX;  eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Precious Lee Johnson-Rowe, 97, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Heritage Plaza Nursing Center, Texarkana, Texas.  Mrs. Rowe was born April 16, 1919 in Domino, Texas.   She was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church of Atlanta, Texas.

Service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. Paul C.M.E. Church with Rev. Melvina Darty officiating and Rev. Darnell Thomas, Sr. doing the Eulogy.   Burial will be in Ware Cemetery, Domino, Texas under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Friday, June 24, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Loretha “Lorice” Lawson Tyson, 72, of Atlanta died Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Atlanta. Mrs. Tyson was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Atlanta. She was a business owner and member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Tyson Sr.; two children, Felecia Tyson of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Lloyd, Jr. and Stacy Tyson of Wylie, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Edna Grigsby of Pontiac, Mich.; one sister, Evelyn Lawson Charleston of Atlanta, TX;

Oneida Roquemore, 95 of Bivins, Texas, quietly heard the gentle call of her Master to come home and rest from her earthly labor on March 3, 2016.  Mrs. Roquemore was born October 31, 1920 in Bivins, TX.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons: Randolph (Elouise) Roquemore, Rudolph Roquemore, Kenneth (Gloria) Roquemore all of Bivins, Theartis (Sherrell) Roquemore of Ft. Worth; four daughters; Dorothy (James) Fuller of Ft. Worth, Margie (Manuel) Mack, Martha Roquemore, and Gertude (George) Jackson all of Bivins; seventeen grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and many, many friends.
