On June 16, 2012, she married the love of her life, Philip Terry. She and Philip lived happily in Texarkana, Texas. Philip brought so much to Stephanie’s life, including two beautiful children, Philip, Jr. and Alicia. Recently, they welcomed their wonderful and much loved grandchildren Miracle and Paisley.
Stephanie was dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas. She sang in First Praise Choir, the Praise Team and played the hand bells. Stephanie, an educator at heart, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, served as a Children’s choir teacher and volunteered with AWANA clubs. Throughout her many years of a member of First Baptist, she served in many other areas in the ministry.
Stephanie was a dedicated teacher at Yerger Middle School. Stephanie worked for many years as an educator and impacted the lives of many of her students and co-workers. Stephanie was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Atlanta Woman’s Club.
Stephanie leaves to cherish her memory, Philip, her husband. She is also survived by her mother, Maggie Casteel; her step-children, PJ and Alicia; her siblings Pam Boyce (LaPrensa), Karen Casteel, Kasonja Velasquez, (Frank), Chris Casteel (Habiba), Kelli Casteel, Terry Lloyd (Theressa), Tammy Blaylock, Michael Williams (Deb) and Stacy Henderson (Quincy), her sisters-in-law Mary Lloyd and Barbara Jones (Ralph). Stephanie also leaves her aunts and uncles; Jewel Blaylock, Dorothy Nickelberry, Edna Nickleberry, LaRuth Casteel, Wiley Scott and Tony Hudson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many wonderful co-workers and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Casteel, brother, Gerald Lloyd, and niece LaShonda King.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, with Wesley Mills officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. The body may be viewed noon to 6 p.m., Friday, February 9, at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.
