Edd G. Feltus, Sr.

                                        Edd G. Feltus, Sr., 52 of Atlanta, Texas died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Queen City, Texas.  Mr. Feltus was born December 20th, 1959 in Phoenix Arizona.   Edd was a full time college student and associate minister.  He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Enon First Baptist Church with Pastor Shaun Collins, Sr. officiating.   Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Douglassville, TX  under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home, Atlanta, Texas.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home. 

Survivors includes: his wife, LaSonya M. Feltus; three daughters, DeShundra Lockett (Zachary), Elida Daniels (Samuel), and Charisse Feltus.  Five sons,  Adrian Blaylock, Jonathan Blaylock, Edd Feltus, Jr. and Ramon Feltus.  His mother, Almatine Bremby; three sisters, Karen Webb, Donna Ward, Almatine (Dwight) Nelson; one brother Charles (Sadie) Feltus; 6 grandchildren:  Faith, Hope and Cameron Lockett, Jayda and Mya Blaylock, Eli Feltus, and a host of nephew, nieces and friends.

Eugene Benjamin

Eugene Benjamin, 95, of Atlanta died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Benjamin was born May 27, 1917. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mel J. Benjamin; and one daughter, Ommie Neal.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alexander and Vernell Benjamin of Atlanta, Tommy J. Benjamin of Dallas and Henry and Marcella Trotter of Austin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenice and S.W. Jones and Joyce and C. James Larry; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul CME Church with the Rev. V.L. Brown Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Joe W. Casteel

Joe W. Casteel, 76, of Atlanta died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in a local hospital.

Mr. Casteel was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Marietta, Texas. He was a welder, educator, bus driver and member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Luckey Casteel; 10 children, Stephanie Casteel Terry, Pamela Casteel Boyce, Karen Casteel, Kasonja Casteel Velasquez, Christiaan Casteel, Kelli Casteel, Terry Lloyd, Tammy Lloyd Blaylock, Michael Williams and Stacy Henderson; one sister, Jewel Blaylock; one brother, Tony Hudson; and a number of other relatives.

Closed casket services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Baker St., Atlanta with Rodney Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Atlanta High School Auditorium.

Birdie Mae Stiger Morris, 85, of Atlanta died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Morris was born Oct. 31, 1926. She was an employee of Jordan Health Services and member of Enon First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a number of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, John and Allday Streets with A.C. Williams Sr. and Jonathan Stanmore officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willie Lee Harper, Sr

Willie Lee Harper Sr., 65, of Atlanta died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mr. Harper was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Jefferson, Texas. He was a machine operator and member of Hendrix Temple COGIC.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Louise Harper; one son, Willie Lee Harper Jr. of Atlanta; four daughters, Ruby Lee Johnson of Texarkana and Joyce Ann Katlin, Mary Lee Johnson and Mary Jean Harper of Atlanta; three brothers, Herman Devereaux Jr., Rufus Clay and Clifford Earl Clay; five sisters, Ruby Lee Harper Clifton, Velma Jean Allen, Mary Jean White, Helen Jean Clay and Linda Pearl Clay; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. 

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hendrix Temple COGIC with Bishop B.D. Willis officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Hattie L. Kelly

Hattie L. Kelly, 55, of Atlanta, Texas died August 16, 2012 at Christus St. Michaels Hospital.  She was an employee of Jordan Home Health Care and a member of St. Paul CME of Atlanta, Texas.

Services will be held on August 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul CME Church, Atlanta, Texas with the Rev. J.L. Brown, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in the Gum Springs Cemetery, Douglassville, Texas, under the directions of Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home.  Viewing  will be on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by her husband, Robert Kelly of Atlanta, Texas; three sons, Michael Federick of Jacksonville, FL , Sukoe Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; James Federick of Atlanta, Texas; a daughter, Avis Washington of Fort Benning, GA ; step-son, Corelle Kelly of Atlanta, TX and a step-daughter, Sabrina Kelly of Linden, TX., 17 grand children, several neices, nephews , cousins and other relatives.

Velma Jean Fields, 66, of Marietta, Texas died at her residence on

Mrs. Fields was born March 5, 1946 in Cass County and was retired from
Pilgrim Pride Coperation of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was a member of
the Gum Springs C.M.E. Church of Douglassville, Texas.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Faith
Community Church of The Nazarene, Atlanta, Texas with the Rev. Leon
Talton officiating. Burial will be in the Floyd Valley Cemetery
under the directions of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Viewing will be Friday, August 24, from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.

Survivors include: her husband, Samuel Fields, (3) Sons; Kenneth Haire,
John D Haire, Jr., and Derrick Haire. (3) Daughters; Demetrice Haire,

ATLANTA, Texas—Earnest Charles Young Jr., 48, of Atlanta died Saturday, July 14, 2012, in a Texarkana nursing home.

Mr. Young was born July 5, 1964. He was employed with Underwriter’s Laboratory and a member of Mount Zion CME Church.

Survivors include one son, Jaden Scott of San Jose, Calif.; four brothers, Glen Young and Larry Young of Linden, Texas, Wilfred Young of San Jose and Ronald Young of Stockton, Calif.; and three sisters, LeShandra Young of Linden, Jacqueline Washington of Shreveport, La., and Carolyn Collins of Texarkana.
