Demeshia LaShawn Gamble

Demeshia Lashawn Gamble, age 36, departed this side of heaven Sunday, July 16, 2023, at UT Health East Texas Hospital in Tyler, Texas. She was born on August 29, 1986, to Mr. Michael Kelly and Ms. Bernice Gamble in Atlanta, Texas. She was a 2004 graduate of Queen City High School. She was pursuing her dream career of becoming a registered nurse. Demeshia accepted Christ at a young age and attended New Beginning Church of God In Christ in Queen City, Texas.

Demeshia was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved and cared for her daughter, An’Tonianna, with all her heart. She really adored her nieces and nephews and loved all her family and friends unconditionally. She knew everyone’s birthday and would be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday, in her sweet, soft voice. Deneshia loved God, her church family and the people of God as a whole. She had great faith and a strong prayer life. She believed that every day was a day of God’s healing, as she fought the good fight of faith, year after year, living with the blood disorder, sickle cell anemia. Through it all she learned to trust God even more.

She lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, singing her favorite songs of praise to the Lord and vacation bible school was one of her many favorite things about church. She loved to dance and was the star of the “Gamble Girl’s” dance group in her younger years. She was called the “TikTok dance Queen” in her last days.  She loved to go on road trips with her big cousins. And yes, she loved her Dallas Cowboys too.

Demeshia was preceded in death by both her paternal and maternal grandparents, Mr. Robert and Helena Kelly & Mr. Thomas and Daisy Gamble, and her sister Lametric Gamble.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at  Enon Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas with Dr. A.C. Williams officiating, under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.   There will be a time of visitation from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.

Special Cousins (sisters): Tiffany Gamble, La’Kimberly Maxie, KaTonya Ivory, Ra’Shida Johnson, and Shay Kelly.   She also leaves to cherish her memories with a host of aunts, uncles,cousins, and friends.

Sandra Luckey McGraw

Sandra Luckey McGraw, born on February 25,959, in Marietta Tx, entered this world as  the beloved daughter of the late Nellie ( Alrona) Williams and Deward ( Mary) Knox. She completed her education at Atlanta High School in 1977, and later pursued studies at Texarkana College. Sandra’s professional journey led her to become a dedicated healthcare worker, sharing her skills and compassion with those in need. Throughout her vibrant life she actively participated as a value member of Enon first Baptist Church until her health began to decline.

Sandra was preceded in death by her grandparent, her eldest son Decius ” Hawk” McGraw, as well as her sister Lorraine and brother Damon Knox. She is survived by two sons: Broderick ( Tamara) McGraw and Xavier McGraw . Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Tanya, Cassandra ( William),Sharon , Karen ( Richard), and Yolanda along with her brothers David and Tony ( Sonya). Sandra leaves behind four grandchildren KeiAndra, Jadyn, De’ Marcus, and Gavin , as one great – granddaughter named Nova. She is also survived by her aunts Arnita Fields, Bernita Henderson, and her uncles Arnold Luckey and Quincey ( Stacy ) Henderson. One special uncle W.O Richardson, holds a special place in her heart. Sandra’s two special brothers are Larry Blaylock and Edwin Williams, and she cherised the lifelong friendship and sisterhood of Mary Lloyd and Rosette Propps.

Willie Lee Luckey

 

Willie Lee Luckey, also known as “Dude” or as his mother affectionately called him, “Doolum”, was born September 11, 1934 to the parentage of the late Oscar Arthur Luckey, Sr. and Maxine Jones Luckey.  He attended Floyd Valley School and Panhandle School where he earned his diploma. He joined the Floyd Valley Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Willie became a deacon and he remained an avid and active member until his health began to fail. He was also a mason with Sunset Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M.

In 1956, Willie married the love of his life, Velva Lee Collins (Sattiewhite), and to this union 3 children were born. During the early years of marriage, he worked for U-Valley Construction until he was injured. In 1958, he began driving the school bus for Panhandle, then Douglas High. Willie became an Atlanta ISD bus driver during the 1965-66 school year and also worked as one of the mechanics. He first retired in 1989. He came out of retirement to go back and help AISD for several more years before retiring again in 1999.

Willie was the firstborn of nine siblings of whom all are deceased: Vernita Luckey Steger, Theotis Luckey, O.A. Luckey, Jr., Marvin Luckey, Callie Luckey Washington, Gladysdene Luckey, Whalen Luckey, Sr. & Clara Luckey Oliver.

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Floyd Valley Baptist Church, Marietta, TX. with Pastor  Reginald Bowser, Officiating.  A walk thru viewing will be held March 3, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 P,M. at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.   Burial will be in Floyd Valley Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

He leaves to cherish his memories: 2 daughters: Velma Jean (Crawford) King and Ivory Pearl (Rod) Birmingham, 1 son who stood by his side through thick and thin: Willie Odell. The Apples of his eyes: The Grands – YoShandra Russell, Christy King, Keres Garrett, Sharedan Birmingham, DeCori Birmingham, and Demecia (Trey) Nickleberry. The Great Grands – Caleb King, Kelis Willis, Katelyn Russell, Brynlee Mason, Dawson Birmingham, McKenzie Birmingham, Dillon Birmingham, and Jordan Hodge. 9 sisters in love: Linda Luckey, Betty Luckey, Roberta Luckey, Ella (Virgil) Hatley, Wilma (Greg) Frazier, Ruth (Martin) Harris, Vanessa Cormier, Joyce Streeter and Aretha Streeter, 5 brothers in love: Fealto Oliver, Felton Collins, John L. Collins, Benjamin (Martha) Collins, Sr. and Jerrel (Roxanne) Sattiewhite, 4 Special daughters: Lawanna Haskins, Donna Hurndon, Gwendolyn Anderson, & Doris Casteel, 2 Special sons: Charles & Ricky Casteel. Donald Patrick Ryan

 

Pastor Donald Patrick Ryan departed this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Christian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Texarkana, Texas.  Donald Patrick Ryan was born on August 25, 1948 to the late Daniel David Joseph Ryan, Sr. and Annie Tillery in Philadelphia, PA.

Donald received his formal education from Saint Thomas Moore in Philadelphia, PA. He was one of the organizers with Herman Wrice (Young Great Society) a program for at-risk youth in Philadelphia.

Upon moving to Texas, Donald became an entrepreneur. He loved God and spreading the love of God to all people from all walks of life. He was the founder of First Love Community Outreach Ministries of Texarkana, Texas.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, 12 o’clock in the afternoon at Emmanuel Christian Center, 2202 South Stateline Texarkana, Texas,  Reverend Roosevelt Thompson, Pastor, with  Presiding Elder Diana Casteel, Officiating.  A walk thru viewing will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral home from 5:00 p.m. t to 7:00 p.m.

Jimmy R. Neal

Jimmy Roy Neal, 60, of Marietta, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2023 at his residents. He was  born on April 28, 1962, in Marietta, Texas to J.T. and Era Mae Neal. He was the youngest of their seven children.  His parents, J. T. and Era Mae Neal, precede him in death.  Jimmy was a graduate of Atlanta High School, Class of 1981.  After high school, he worked at Scott Industries and later for Atlanta ISD for several years.  He would later retire from Trax Transportation with more than 12 years of services. Jimmy loved laughing, smiling and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a loving and caring person with a ready-made smile on his face

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022,  11 am at Floyd Valley Baptist Church,  Marietta, Texas with Reverend Milton Jones, officiating.

Jimmy left behind his only child, LaToya Neal, 2 sisters, a brother and a host of people who love him and will never forget his memory.

McErvin Watson

McErvin Watson, 82, of  Marietta, Texas passed away July 28, 2022.  He was born August 14, to Roy and Sylverine Watson.   McErvin graduated from Panhandle High School in Douglassville, Texas.   After graduating from high school, he furthered his education at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.

Services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home-Chapel, 304 N. Polk Street, Atlanta, Texas at 10:00 A.M. with Minister Reginald Bowser, Officiating.   A walk thru viewing will be Friday, August 5, 2022 from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Survivors include:  Children:   Rickey (Sherry) of Lancaster; Carolyn (James) of DeSoto; Gary (Dwyna) of Douglassville;  Tommy (Madetra) of Arlington; Shaddrick (Angela) of Arlington; and Broddrick (Anneka) Irving; Brother:  William (Esther) of Los Angeles, California; Sister:  Marion (Nummie) of Dallas, Texas; Brother-in-law, Ray McGary; Sisters-in-law, Wanda, Josephine, Diane, Theresa, and Helen.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jessie Lewis Lincoln

Jessie Lewis Lincoln, son of Bobby and Eddie Lincoln, Sr. was born in Atlanta, Texas on November 21, 1956.  Jessie graduated from Atlanta High School. He attended St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Atlanta. Jessie worked for the city of Atlanta, International Paper Mill and Walmart where he was affectionately known as “Uncle Jessie” by his  co-workers, customers, and friends.

On July 29, 2022, Jessie accepted his call home from the Lord. Jessie was preceded in death by his twin sister, Essie Lincoln and brother Bobby Lincoln Jr.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Paul CME Church at 11:00 A.M., 412 John Street, Atlanta, Texas, with Richard Tennison, officiating.   Visitation will be held at St. Paul CME Church from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Bobby Louis Lincoln, Jr.

Bobby Louis Lincoln, Jr., son of Bobby and Eddie Lincoln, Sr was born in Atlanta, Texas, on August 13, 1969.  He passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at his residence.

He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1987. He attended St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Atlanta. He was employed by the City of Atlanta Public Works Department for 27 years. Bobby was noted for his quiet and humble demeanor. He served as an inspiration to his family and friends and possessed a subtle wit that brought laughter to all.

Services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11 AM,  Atlanta High School Auditorium, 705 Rabbit Blvd Atlanta, Texas 75551 with Reverend Richard Tennison, Officiating.  Visitation will be Friday July, 29, 2022 1PM – 5 PM at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Atlanta, Texas, 412 John Street.

Juliene Mothershed

Juliene Mothershed, 82, was born July 8, 1939 in Bells, Texas to the parentage of Howard and Dorothy Mae Craven. She went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

Juliene graduated from Jarvis Christian College with a Bachelor of Science in 1960. She then went on to Texas Southern University, where she received her Masters Degree in Education. Juliene was also First Lady of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bloomburg, Texas, during her husband’s tenure. She was employed with Jarvis Christian College and she eventually retired from Houston Community College where she was an instructor.

Services will be held Saturday,  June 25, 2022 at 12:00 None at the  Shady Grove Baptist Church Bloomburg, Texas with Rev. Shelby Smith officiating.  A walk thru viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2022 at Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.  PLEASE WEAR YOUR MASK.

Juliene was preceded in death by her husband, Spaesio Willard Mothershed Sr.; one son, Ronald F. Mothershed; her parents; and twin sister, Pauline Craven Boddie.

She leaves to cherish her memories – her children, Spaesio W. Mothershed, Jr., and Willa Renee’ Mothershed-Smith; brother, Howard Craven, Jr.; grandsons, Sapesio W. Mothershed, III, Darryl Julian Smith, Kameron Neatale Smith; great granddaughter, Victoria Renee Smith; son-in-law, Darryl Neatale Smith; and ex-daughter-in-law, Ceretha Mothershed.

Retta Faye Walker

Retta Faye Walker, 60, of Marshall, Texas passed away March 5, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Walker was born October 20, 1961 to the parentage of the late Mr. Clyde Rainey,  and Leatrice Crenshaw Rainey in Lodi, Texas, and she was a member of Kingdom Faith Ministries, Domino Texas.

Services will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2020 at Kingdom Faith Ministries, Domino, Texas with Bishop Marvin Campbell officiating.   Viewing will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM at Coleman Atlanta Funeral Home.

She leaves to mourn her homegoing;  a loving husband, Mr. Jesse L. Walker; her mother, Mrs. Leatrice Rainey of Lodi; three sisters,  Mrs. Urecia Tucker, Ms. Wynetta Boyd, all of Marshall, and Mrs. Sharon Rainey of Lodi; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Val J. Williams

Val J. Williams, 79, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022. Ms. Williams was born October 18,1942 in Lodi, TX to Mr. Harvest Lee Williams and Mrs. Mable Gill Williams.   Val united with Ebenezer CME Church at an early age.   After moving to Houston, TX she attended E.O. Smith and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School.  She also graduated from Houston Community College.   Val retired from Methodist Hospital as an Accounting Specialist in Houston, TX after 40 years of service.

She is survived by her loving sister, Shirley Williams Johnson of Houston, TX; two nephews, Rodney Johnson and Reginald Johnson;  one niece, Erica Johnson, all of Houston, TX.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother, aunts; Annie V. Wallace, Willie B. Gill Griffin, Alice Eversley, Jessie Mae Smith and Mable Jewel Williams; six uncles, Johnny Gill, Earl Milton Gill, Sam Gill, George Gill,  Freddie Lewis Gill and Hobert Gill.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Ebenezer CME Church  with Rev. Torrance Hall officiating.

Viewing will be February 26, 2022, 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Church.

Interment will be in Whitaker Cemetery under the direction of Coleman-Atlanta Funeral Home.
